Custom Art Project : : Clearwater Beach Map

Vibrant and Fun Watercolors Meets Functional Artwork

Being the resident artist here at LGD gives me some pretty cool opportunities with clients, most recently one of those being for the newly designed Hotel Cabana on Clearwater Beach. LGD did an incredible job exuding a modern, coastal but still minimalistic feel of relaxation throughout the design, much of which parallels my own artistic style in my coastal watercolor artwork.

When the owner commissioned me to create a 3' x 4' map to hang in their entry way for every guest to see, I was beyond excited! Custom maps have really become a passion project of mine, and a way to more deeply explore the design and architecture of different buildings in structures throughout Florida. Aside from these maps becoming a gorgeous piece of 100% custom artwork, they also serve a functional purpose - helping guests navigate their way around a new city or area, all while viewing beautiful illustrations.

DESIGN PROJECT:: RELAXING OUTDOOR KITCHEN (BEFORE & AFTER PICS)

Alright guys. So apparently this whole Big Green Egg is a big deal. Like, a real big deal. So big of a deal, that we designed a new outdoor living space... around the Big Green Egg. It really made for a fun project. The homeowners have a beautiful home that they built roughly seven years ago, they entertain a lot and wanted to maximize that space and really update it, and really the husbands only priority was to fit in the egg.

So we got to work.

We collaborated with Olde World Cabinetry on this project, using the best finishes available for this outdoor space.

Here are a few images of the space before, so you can see what we were working with.

We all got to work, reconfiguring the cabinetry, designing a beautiful custom hood, picking finishes and furniture.

We thought it would be best to tile the back wall of the outdoor kitchen in a beautiful glass tile, from counter to ceiling. It really brought such a grand feeling to the space. Plus it sparkled when the light hit it.

I mentioned the glass backsplash tile has a certain sparkle to it, right? Yeah. It does. It's pretty. We love it.

... and this chandelier. It's so simple, yet so stunning.

Some other elements include a sweet little daybed by the outdoor fireplace and other little nooks that include a fire pit. We had a lot of fun mixing and matching some lovely fabrics to add some interest to the space.

This project turned out to be a really lovely space, monochromatic, classic and very functional. We just know that they will enjoy it for many years to come!

So does this project have you reconfiguring your Big Green Egg in your head?! From our understanding it's a pretty important element for the outdoor chef!

INSPIRATION: Contemporary Living

We have a new client that is relocating from Blue Bell, PA to Sarasota, FL and he has hired us to design his home that is currently under construction. The inspiration? Colorful contemporary.

We are pretty excited about it and have been looking through photos of contemporary interiors to get our wheels turning.

Are you a fan of contemporary design? Here are some key factors you should be looking for while thinking about designing your space:

  • Clean lines
  • Lots of use of metal (a lot of times people lean toward chrome, however you are not limited to just chrome.)
  • Modern art
  • Geometric textiles

Here are some images that we were attracted to, so we thought we would share!

PROJECT: Waterfront Blues

Lately, we have been so busy and having so much fun with our clients. Each of our projects are very different from the next, we couldn't be more pleased! This is a little snippet at some fabric palettes we have been working on for presentation...

We can't wait to see the finished project of this beautiful water front home! The blue palette will be so peaceful.

Happy Wednesday!
