LUXURIOUS VACATION HOME MASTER BEDROOM

We are seeing people take vacations into their own hands and making pretty sweet vacation homes, that they can enjoy at their discretion. For this recent Gulf Coast vacation condo we completed, the master bedroom is full of design and the opportunity for a really, really, amazing beautiful sleep.

If 2020 taught us anything (okay, actually a lot) I think that one big takeaway is to savor vacation and travel!

However, we are seeing people take vacations into their own hands and making pretty sweet vacation homes, that they can enjoy at their discretion.

What's one of your favorite things about vacation? Obviously, there are many, but for me, it's a good healthy sleep and waking up to no alarm - and if there is a good view, well, that's just a big bonus!

For this recent Gulf Coast vacation condo we completed, the master bedroom is full of design and the opportunity for a really, really, amazing beautiful sleep.

TEXTILES

Textiles are huge in interior design, but even more important or a bedroom! In this space we mixed velvets, soft linens and cotton blends with a dash of leather and natural grasses.

DRAPERY

Draperies always make a room feel luxe, so never skip this when doing a vacation home!

LIGHT

Multiple lighting options create great moods, task lighting and ambient lighting is important.

COLOR

Use colors you might not be as brave to use in your primary residence, so that way it feels like an extra treat when you are there!

BEFORE + AFTER - LIVING ROOM

Once a standard Florida ranch house, now dripping with traditional style and timeless elements with a pop of unexpected modern!

The first moment I walked into this room, I instantly visualized a beautiful chinoiserie wallpaper wrapping the room, I was so happy our client agreed!

This room was designed with entertaining in mind and honoring the formal living room.

BEFORE

AFTER

Every color in the spectrum was used for this room, I love how we used pastels with more bold and saturated colors. There is a lot of pattern mixing and cozy textiles.

The flooring is a very durable luxury vinyl tile, in a beautiful parquet pattern - classic and gorgeous, however durable for entertaining, pups and grandkids!

Because the ceilings are quite low, we opted for a light and airy chandelier. This murano glass chandelier is beautiful and stately, but airy at the same time.

My signature for most projects is custom designed ottomans locally made, these ottomans are in a beautiful blue leather and finished off with unique claw feet grasping crystal balls.

WOW FACTOR VANITIES

Your bathroom vanity has a special opportunity to make your guest’s head turn and say "wow, so cool!" or honestly, just for you to enjoy yourself, daily! Allow yourself to have fun and bring some personality in. Keep in mind, it doesn't mean you have to go wild and crazy - you are creating a story and a style, so don't overthink it!

Your bathroom vanity has a special opportunity to make your guest’s head turn and say "wow, so cool!" or honestly, just for you to enjoy yourself, daily! Often people get nervous about small spaces or they feel like they have to "play it safe" and opt for a standard white shaker style. That can't be more false!

Allow yourself to have fun and bring some personality in. Keep in mind, it doesn't mean you have to go wild and crazy - you are creating a story and a style, so don't overthink it!

Color

Color is a great way to infuse personality into your bathroom. Selecting a bold modern color, then applying it to a more traditional door style is a great way to not allow it to feel cartoonish.

Wood

Don't forget that you can have a lot of fun with different tones and species of woods, and door styles, really bring in personality!

Hardware

Hardware! The jewelry of the home - have fun and don't be afraid to go oversized with it. Often oversized hardware feels stately and luxe. There are also so many options out there for unique selections that are more sculptural than your simple knob or pull.

Storage

Think about the storage you need or don't need. If it's a powder room, you may need less storage and can get away with a more open concept. If you do need a lot of storage, having fun with the materials is key.

VACATION HOME DINING - LUXE & FULL OF PERSONALITY

If you plan to invest in real estate and having a vacation home (or multiple) why not make them the absolute best they can be? Create a place you deserve to relax, unwind, enjoy and call your own. And while we are at it - why don’t we make it even better than dining in a hotel. Let’s make it yours!

When you think of vacation homes and dining, what comes to mind?

  • take out and comfy clothes?

  • cooking at home with a great bottle of wine and enjoy and intimate setting?

  • entertaining many family members and friends while making meaningful memories?

All of the above? Okay, cool, sounds good to us, too!

So often, it seems that people do not invest too much in the visual experience that their vacation home can create for them, it’s often a second thought or items that have been handed down from other properties etc.

Why?

If you plan to invest in real estate and having a vacation home (or multiple) why not make them the absolute best they can be? Create a place you deserve to relax, unwind, enjoy and call your own. And while we are at it - why don’t we make it even better than dining in a hotel. Let’s make it yours!

For this vacation home, we did just that. I have to be honest, I was so pleased when our client wanted an actual dining room in their vacation home. Lately, it feels like so many homeowners are foregoing the traditional dining space feel - and I personally find it sad.

Let’s bring gatherings back around the table and make dining at home (or on vacation) a special moment.

A “formal” dining room doesn’t have to be stuffy and unapproachable.

For this vacation home, we wrapped the room in these swoon worthy custom draperies, hand painted and create a very powerful artistic impact. A chunky modern dining table, paired with slim lined dining chairs and a very durable upholstery fabric all grounded with a bold black and white indoor / outdoor area rug (with extra scotch guard protection of course for a potential spill).

The dining room is finished off with a completely custom brass banana leaf chandelier, that I dreamt up and had made locally with my trust workrooms. Sounds amazing, right? It is! It dances over the table and creates the most beautiful sculptural experience.

Isn’t it easy to just picture all kinds of memories being made in this space? And with the endless coastal views of the Gulf of Mexico, you really feel the beauty inside and outside of the space.

Enjoy the full home tour here, and all the small details that went into making it perfect for this family to enjoy for years to come!
